Faceting

Faceting is the process of cutting and polishing flat surfaces, usually on a gemstone, in a precise geometric pattern. This is a one-on-one instruction and lasts until one project is completed.

Facetors Meetings are usually held the 3rd Saturday of the month at the Clubhouse at 9:30AM.

Faceting Meetings with the Grand Junction Faceting Club will be returning to our normal schedule, the third week of every month at 9:30 am until further notice. We may take off the weeks of Christmas and the New year (2026).
New faceters are encouraged to attend our meetings so you can be first on the list for classes.   We do this because we are all volunteers and it shows us that you have the time and are very interested in learning to cut Gemstones.
We facet (also called cutting) Rubys, sapphires, emeralds, Aqua marines, topaz’s and much more.

Our classes are usually two days, eight hours each. depending on how long it takes to finish your first project.  You do not need to have any experience to attend.
Meeting agenda:
Project:      We choose a different faceting diagram at every meeting to cut a stone.
Demo:        We usually have a more experienced faceter demonstrate a new technique.
Discussion: We discuss topics to help you become a better faceter.
There are no membership fees for the Grand Junction Faceting Club.
We will provide coffee and donuts
New students very encouraged to attend.
