We take field trips to the local museums as well
as trips to the mountains and the desert.

There is not a lot to bring to the museum except
maybe a camera and a notepad.  The mountains
and the desert are a different story.

Here are suggestions on what to bring.

Four wheel drive or high clearance vehicle with a full
tank of gas.

You can wear shorts and a T-shirt but bring along
a long sleeve shirt, long pants, and a jacket.  We

get big changes in temperature and sometimes
high winds.

No sandals!!!  Wear hiking books or very
sturdy athletic shoes.

Hat, gloves, and sun glasses.  Bug spray and sun screen.

Hiking stick (good for maintaining balance)
rock hammer, pick and shovel.

At least one gallon of water per person,
soft drinks, and a sack lunch.  No alcoholic
beverages.

GPS, binoculars, walkie-talkies, and a metal detector.

Sacks to carry rocks.

Regular or paper towels.

Trash bages - Be more than responsible.
Haul out more than you bring in.

Toilet paper - you never know.
